To Senor-who-wrecked-HP3 June 29, 2004

I wrote this the other night in the spark, and I just had to put this in here. So... this isn't now, but rather saturday night.

Hi! Just thought I'd share with you something that is bothering me at the moment...

I just got back from the movie theaters, seeing Harry Potter 3. And frankly, I'm pissed!

I love Harry Potter, and the first 2 movies, though shorter than I would have made myself, we're good. Everything was exactly as I pictured it while reading, and I'm a very visual person when I read. I actually set myself in the story. I am actually in Hogwarts, or walking around Diagon Alley, or sitting in the great hall and all that jazz. So when a movie comes out based on a book, everything must be exactly as I pictured it and stay close to the content of the book. There shall be no freedom for the screenwriters to change anything. Basically, copy the book word for word is what I'm asking. I know, high expectations. Thats why I find that most movies based off of books suck.

Chris Columbus did an amazing job with the first 2 films. Everything was as I pictured it, and everything was acted as I pictured it.

But Harry Potter 3... a new director came along and ruined it, if you ask me. I mean, the acting was well done. Except for the new Dumbledore... but theres really nothing they can do about that. Richard Harris is dead. You can't bring back the character he created. This new guy though... he could've at least acted somewhat similar to the former Dumbledore! But moving on... back to the director. I can't remember his name. All I remember about him is that he directed "y tu mama, tambien"... so I shall came him Senor-who-wrecked-HP3. Senor-who-wrecked-HP3 changed the mood of the movie, took waaaaayyyy too much stuff out, and failed to mention some very very very important stuff. Like Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs. You read the book, you know exactly who they are. You watch the movie... you're completely lost. You don't even know that the names have anything to do with the guys! And I'm sorry if this is getting too deep into the movie... I don't want to ruin it for anybody. If you care to see it... personally, I'd rather enjoy the book than see that again. Though I just might, because I enjoy the acting skills of the three main characters. What are their names? I know Emma and Rupert... I think the guy who plays Harry is Dan. I don't know... it's been a late nite. Any other time I would know. haha.

Continuing... Senor-who-wrecked-HP3 tried hard, I'm sure. And what he got right for the movie was just dead on. But what he got wrong was soooooo incredibly wrong, it ruined the whole movie for me. So, Senor-who-wrecked-HP3, I ask of you my money back. That was an expensive movie. $6.50 just for the ticket in the door... stupid rip-off.

I'm ready for some brilliant directing (as in not Senor-who-wrecked-HP3's directing)... I think I'm gonna go watch some Moulin Rouge and get some sleep before I have to work at 2 in the afternoon... Good night!
